The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke in Durham, North Carolina, is dedicated entirely to the treatment and cure of brain and/or spinal cord tumors in children and adults. Their philosophy of care acknowledges the central role of family in each person's life. All care, regardless of how progressive and technologically sophisticated it may be, is delivered with gentle hands and a caring heart.
Founded in 1913, The Crossnore School is private, non-profit children’s home and school in the western North Carolina mountains, serving children who, for circumstances beyond their control, can no longer live at home, whether permanently or temporarily.
